Why DFW suits sterile males

The mosquitoes that bite in North Texas yards by day breed in small containers close to home: the Asian tiger and yellow fever mosquitoes.

Saucers, gutters, tarps and birdbaths are hard to reach and easy to miss. Released males find the wild females there, and their eggs don't hatch. It's precisely targeted: it affects only the two mosquito species we release, and touches nothing else in the yard. The Dallas County and Tarrant County health departments and most city programs in DFW focus on trapping and responding to night-biting mosquitoes; SMF adds a biological layer for the daytime biters, alongside that work.

FAQ

Do you offer mosquito control in my city?
Yes, if you're anywhere in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex or the towns around it: any ZIP within 60 miles of Dallas or Fort Worth. Check your ZIP above or get a quote and we'll confirm.
When is mosquito season in North Texas?
Mosquitoes are active in DFW from spring into late fall, with peaks in summer after rain. North Texas winters are mild, so our programs run all year. Homes get a release plate twice a month in the warm months and one a month in winter, so the population can't rebuild before spring.
Does my city already spray for mosquitoes?
Many DFW cities trap mosquitoes and treat at night near positive traps, mainly for night-biting mosquitoes. Our releases target the biters in your yard by day and at dusk, so the two work side by side.
Can you serve a property outside the metro area?
We serve any ZIP within 60 miles of Dallas or Fort Worth, which covers the whole metroplex and the towns around it. Beyond that, book a call and tell us where you are.
I'm outside Texas. Can I still work with SMF?
Yes, through our partner program for pest-control operators, districts and developers.
